The hard and soft sciences are vital to our infrastructure, understanding how things work, and how to sustain our lives. The social sciences inform and instruct us on how to interact and coexist. Philosophy and theology answer or raise questions about our big "WHY" questions and connect us with ultimate truth. However, the arts touch something deep within us that connects to our joy, how we express our reason for living and our total engagement in life.

Much of what we study in academia helps us live, but without the arts, there is a vaccum in the arena of our reason for living.

That is one reason why I enjoy writing about the arts in our local area as I have for this article in today's Kings River Life Magazine:

Are the performing arts alive and well in Fresno?

They are alive and thriving and the next generation is catching the fire and setting the world ablaze with brilliance.

From the age of five and upwards, young people and families can learn to dance in any style from ballet to tap, jazz, ballroom, Irish, or hip hop and more. They can explore the possibilities of visual art, gymnastics, or cheering. They can take vocal and instrumental music lessons, study acting, or combine any of these skill sets in the context of the performing arts at California Arts Academy. Read More
