Courage.

What is it?

Do we have it?

It is more than not running away. It is moving forward when the outcome is bleak but the call is strong.

The Quo Vadis Legend illustrates it.

Peter is fleeing from likely crucifixion in Rome at the hands of the government, and along the road outside the city he meets a risen Jesus.

In the Latin, Peter asks Jesus "Quo vadis?"

In other words, "Where are you going?"

Peter  replies, "Romam vado iterum crucifigi"

"I am going to Rome to be crucified again."

Peter is infused with new courage to continue his ministry. He returns to the city. Eventually he is martyred by being crucified upside-down.

Would you turn back toward Rome if you knew it meant suffering and disgrace?
