He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
(Revelation 3:6)

Not everyone can hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches, but a far greater number simply refuse to hear in a deep way.

The believers in Philadelphia were ever ready to hear a word from Jesus. They lived their lives on tiptoe in expectation of the Lord's coming. They gladly received the encouragement of Jesus and relished the doors of ministry that He set before them. They were ready and willing to suffer and remain faithful. The Master had no word of rebuke for them whatsoever and showered them with promises. He would give them His very own name and identify with them joyfully.

No complaints were registered for Philadelphia, but in the same respect, there were no compliments for Laodicea.

The believers in Laodicea were not bad people. They were mediocre. They were not cold, but neither were they hot. They had settled into a comfortable Christianity where nothing disturbed them or rattled their cages. They had grown complacent and self-satisfied. They believed that everything was just fine with them. There was no passion, no life, no fire.

Jesus can awaken the dead, revive the sleeping, and fire up the cold heart, but He offers only one remedy to those who are neither hot nor cold.

"Let me in!"

Somehow, His church in Laodicea had locked Him out and the Spirit was saying, "Open the door."

This is about open doors. For those who are filled with passion for Jesus, who burn with love for Him, and seek Him continually, He sets open doors of opportunity. For those who have shut Him out, He knocks with urgency to be admitted to His own church. They too can become overcomers, but they must accept His loving rebuke and welcome Him into their midst.

What about your life? What kind of door is in front of you? Is it a closed door locking Jesus out or an open door of opportunity?  It is your choice.
