Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth .. (Eccleisastes 12:1a)
Solomon understood human mortality as well as any man who ever lived.
He often meditated upon the fleeting glory of human riches, the severe limitations of man’s wisdom, and the profound reality of the coming frailties of age. Awaiting each man and woman, as Solomon understood it, was death and there was no time like the present to invest ones trust in eternal things.
Some years ago, I discovered the Sanger District Cemetery nestled in the foothills outside near Centerville, California. As I walked among the monuments, some cracked and weathered by the years, I read the epitaphs that marked each departed life.
Each year, month, and day was accounted for on these markings. Not one day was lost.

62 years, 6 months, 4 days
She died as she lived,
Trusting in God
One of the most emotional markings was written by a wife and said:
Rest, husband, in the silent grave.
Rest, for the shadow and the gloom of death is passed.
Rest, from the griefs thy path beset.
Rest, dear one, till we have met
In Heaven at last.
What marks your life?
What unknown script is emboldened in the dash between the day of your birth and the day of your death?
What gives you significant beyond the grave?
Consider your relationship with God through Jesus Christ and call to service and ask the tough questions.
Your stone is being written
