" The wicked shall return to Sheol,
all the nations that forget God.
For the needy shall not always be forgotten,
and the hope of the poor shall not perish forever."
– Psalm 9:17-18 (ESV)
First – The "return" to Sheol? That makes me think that wickedness originates in the realm of death and death leads to death.
Second – The proximate relationship between wickedness, forgetting God, and oppressing the poor in these verses is profound and unmistakable.
Third – Judgment of wickedness means hope for the downtrodden. This was written to and for the oppressed to give them hope.
