I notice that the "Corpus Christi – Gay Jesus" hoax letter is circulating again – as if it has ever stopped for long.

I have received several "forwards" recently in private messages and e-mail.

This note is actually about 34 years old and first circulated by paper and then on the internet. I have received it more times than I can count.

Forgive me if I do not circulate it.

It really is a hoax with a life of its own. It's like scattering confetti in the wind. You could not call back all the pieces if you wanted to.

And also, Madeline Murray O'Hair is neither alive nor trying to get religious programming off the air.

This same thing happens with some prayer requests that were written when they were urgent (assuming they were real).

That includes many sick kids and a number of Christians and missionaries about to be executed.

Since there are many people sick and being persecuted, those notes do remind me to pray for the ones who really are in need. But I know that misinformation does discourage many who would join the team,

It also includes a number of soldiers that we are not hearing about because we heard about them 5-10 years ago when they actually were killed (rather than "last week) and forgot the story.

We need to confirm things with several sources – primary and news. Contrary to what is said by politicians, most news outlets do not make it a practice to make up stories.

There are credible people fact-checking them. When they find a glaring error of facts, they generally call it back.

Of course, we cannot call back a lot of this – like the confetti.

We could, however, not pass it on
