Thank you, Mike Cassidy for writing this piece in 1994.
It actually brought me a little attention and a great deal of affirmation.
I hope the San Jose Mercury News will forgive me for linking to it here.
We taught one sentence which amounted to an equation for driving safety and success:
Values + Attitudes = Behavior.
Drawing from the insights of Glasser's model of Reality Therapy, we taught that the willingness of the person to accept natural consequences of his/her behavior was key to the process of change.
Like Abraham Maslow, we affirmed that values are deeply embedded in societies (social values) and individuals (personal values).
I have applied V+A=B to life in counseling, coaching, preaching, teaching, and writing about personal development.
I thank National Traffic Safety Institute and Dr. Jeffrey Chase, the founder, for that tool.
I thank Mike Cassidy, who wrote for the San Jose Mercury New for 28 years for the props.
Mike can be found tweeting in his new incarnation at Twitter.
