Wholehearted Prayer for the Whole Heart and the Whole World

God grant me wholehearted prayer;
be it cry or sigh …
or, perchance, a shout of joy!

I come with …
whole heart, undivided,
undeterred,
un-distracted ….

Grant it, LORD and may I …
ENTER.

I cry.
You hear.

I call.
You save. It is …
well before dawn
and my heart is awakened.

May I hear your testimonies and statutes and …
…obey!

I rise.
I cry.
I hope.

'With my whole heart I cry; answer me, O LORD!
I will keep your statutes.
I call to you; save me,
that I may observe your testimonies.
I rise before dawn and cry for help;
I hope in your words."
Psalm 119:145-147 (ESV)

Taking the Next Step in Prayer for the World

Abba, I am not sure that there are more tragedies in the world these days or if we are just more connected and the news becomes immediate and personal.

There are some good things about that for people of prayer: deeper, closer connectedness.

Thank you for using whatever is to fashion what can be.

I confess that I see a danger. That is numbness and the blink factor.

We get distracted; we blink; we miss something; we kick ourselves; we go on.

They are still finding bodies from every recent tragedy.

People are still dying among us from pandemic, pestilence, famine, storm, and violence.

I have somehow missed being shocked by some of these.

I am shocked by that reality!

Such devastating tragedy on the verge of hope.

May the families and survivors find hope on the wings of tragedy.

We are all connected – even if the web goes down.

God disturb our whole hearts that we might find wholehearted peace in you.

Amen.

This is our payer.

And now, we must go on.
