Melanie – Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)

Melanie Anne Safka-Schekeryk (February 3, 1947 – January 23, 2024), professionally known as Melanie was an American singer-songwriter. In 1969, at Woodstock, the crowd lit candles during her performance in the rain.

In response, she wrote “Lay Down – Candles in th Rain.”

“We all sang the songs of peace. Some came to sing, some came to pray, some came to keep the dark away.”

It prompts me to ask myself:

What have I laid down lately for justice, peace, and rightousness?

What have I laid aside for God?

What have I sung?

What have I prayed?

What have I done to keep th dark away?
