Slavery by any other name is still slavery. A rigged system that restricts the movement or unfairly coops the labor people based upon arbitrary laws and contracts that favor one race to the servitude of another is slavery. Jim Crow was a form of slavery.
It is a form of slavery to strategically single out a behavior that is practiced by one group of people for more severe penalties than other, often more serious crimes. Then, it deepens the slavery when masses of people are incarcerated disproportionately and their labor is sold at a discount on the open market. what makes this even more like slavery is that the intent can be easily identified.
