Mystically meandering,
Meditation.
Relax,
Unplug,
Disconnect to
Reconnect.
Listen with your heart and not just your ears.
Lean back.
Lean in.
A magnificent offering of choral worship.
Psalm 133
Ecce, quam bonum!
Oh, how good and pleasant it is, *
when brethren live together in unity!
It is like fine oil upon the head *
that runs down upon the beard,
Upon the beard of Aaron, *
and runs down upon the collar of his robe.
It is like the dew of Hermon *
that falls upon the hills of Zion.
For there the Lord has ordained the blessing: *
life for evermore.
Teach us Lord, that we are brothers and sisters.
Engrave that truth upon our hearts.
Burn it into the fiber of our souls.
Help us to know that
All that injures one,
Injures all.
All that lifts another,
Lifts all,
For Your heart is touched
By every tear and
Cry for help.
Amen.

Heroes Around Us
These are days of heroic souls,
Standing against tide,
Swimming upstream,
Living above and beyond definition,
Out of the box,
Off the charts,
Resisting what is evil,
Persisting in righteousness,
Insisting on love, compassion, and justice,
Subject to ridicule,
Gallant heroes.
“Christ always seeks the straw of the most desolate cribs to make his Bethlehem.” — Thomas Merton

“Use your words,”
Said mother to her little child
writhing, moaning, gesturing,
growling on the floor.
Use them wisely,
sparingly,
elegantly,
clearly.
Get your word’s worth
from the words you use.

As the psalmist cries out for vindication, mercy, and help, he also let’s this slip,
“O God, you know my folly; the wrongs I have done are not hidden from you.” — Psalm 69:5 ESV
What could be more liberating than an honest relationship with God where we have nothing to hide and no need to hide anything?
Do Not Try to Go It Alone.

“A community is the mental and spiritual condition of knowing that the place is shared, and that the people who share the place define and limit the possibilities of each other’s lives. It is the knowledge that people have of each other, their concern for each other, their trust in each other, the freedom with which they come and go among themselves.” — Wendell Berry
“It is not from ourselves that we learn to be better than we are.” Wendell Berry
“Ultimately the only way that I can be myself is to become identified with him in whom is hidden the reason and fulfillment of my existence”- Thomas Merton
“Almost nothing that makes any real difference can be proved.” — Frederick Buechner
“It was liberating to understand that prayer involved a learning process. I was set free to question, experiment, even to fail.” — Richard Foster
“When we focus on what is good & beautiful in someone…the good & beautiful are strengthened merely by the light of our attention.” — K Kenison
