“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” – John 10:27-28
I want to learn to be better and being one of the sheep.
I want to learn to listen, hear, and recognize the voice of the Shepherd more clearly.
I want to live in constant and consistent awareness of the promise that, with his voice, is his presence.
With his presence, there is peace and protection.
He protects me for a purpose and that purpose permeates my life through and through and tunes my ears and heart to listen with heightened expectation.
I can hear him because his voice is familiar.
I can hear him because it is my desire to hear him.
I can hear him because his voice calms my fears and apprehensions.
I can hear him because I am straining to do so and seeking to tune out all the competing noise.
I can hear him because it is my intent to take what he says to heart, to meditate upon it, and to obey his directions.
I can hear it because all other sounds are flat, dissonant, and disheartening by comparison.
I can hear him because, when he speaks, he calls my name,
I can hear him because he gives me life that lasts.
I can hear him because, in him, I shall never perish.
I can hear him because I am his and he is mine and no one can pluck me from his hand.
