We are not all that good at generational thinking. We are fairly well tuned to passing on truth to the next generation and to that of our grandchildren, but we are not often that concerned with the children unborn and their children. How would it change our thinking, prayers, and behaviors if we thought 100, 200, 300 years out at more? How might we invest some of who we are in the values, attitudes, and beliefs of those whose existence we cannot even imagine? Granted, they will have to shape their world, but what sort of world will we leave them? Will we create an environment where they can be reminded of what we have embraced and valued about God and His Kingdom? Are we thinking legacy or are we just getting by?
