Today's story about the latest technically advanced prayer gimmick — tweeting prayers to be printed out and placed at the Western Wall in Jerusalem — made me think about prayer and place.

Is there some intrinsic value in a special place, special words, a particular prayer and the story of your soul that it tells? Or is place irrelevant to prayer. If it's you, addressing God, wouldn't it "work" anywhere your heart beats and your soul finds words?

Holocaust survivor and human rights activist Elie Wiesel included one of my favorite stories about prayer and place,Hasidic parable. as a preface to his novel, The Gates of the Forest.

It is a great story about a story.

Indeed, God does love stories. He has been writing His story all along and invites us to participate.

Click the link and read the parable.
