How about the memorial to you in the hearts of your loved one?

What is being written in the dash between your first day and your last?

“Markings” is a reflection on gravestones, memory, mortality, reputation, and the life we are writing while we still have breath.

Your stone is being written.

Consider these questions and discvuss them with some friends:

What do you hope people will remember about your “dash” — the space between your first day and your last?

Is legacy something we intentionally build, or something others discover after we are gone?

What do gravestones, epitaphs, and cemeteries teach us that ordinary life tries to help us avoid?

If one sentence were written to summarize the spirit of your life, what would you hope it might say?

How much control do we really have over the way we are remembered?

What matters more: being remembered accurately, being remembered kindly, or being remembered at all?

Have you ever read an epitaph or visited a grave that changed the way you thought about life?

What small daily choices are quietly becoming the “markings” of our lives?

Is there a difference between reputation, legacy, and witness?

What would you change today if you remembered that your stone is already being written?
