A caption is a caption. A teaser is a teaser. An opening is an opening.
It is meant to get our attention and invite us further in.
Yet we sometimes approach the Bible in much the same way: we seize upon a phrase, skim the surface, and assume we know all it has to say. A verse can meet us powerfully—but it has a home in the wider, rich, nuanced story of God’s Word.
Let us not live an inch deep and a mile wide in our appreciation of Scripture. Don’t stop at the caption. Go deeper.
