You do not have to be lifted up in the eyes of the world, or even in your own eyes, to move upward toward God.

Psalm 131 is a song of ascent, sung by pilgrims climbing toward Jerusalem. Yet the singer says, “My heart is not lifted up.”

The body ascends, but the ego bows.

That is the way of worship.

We do not come to God because we have mastered every mystery, solved every problem, or proven ourselves great. We come with quieted souls, humble hearts, and simple trust.

The way to God is not only for the impressive. It is for the humble.

You do not have to be exalted to ascend.

This is where I would love to hear from you.

How do you strike the balance between humility and a healthy self-image?

How do we encourage people without inflating them?

How do we correct pride without crushing the person?

How do we teach children, leaders, disciples, and friends that they are deeply loved by God, but not the center of everything?

Seriously, come in, look around, read deeply, ask questions, and engage. This is where we slow down and do the deeper work together.
