Between the Lutheran and Anglican traditions, four great composers of sacred music are honored on July 28.

The Episcopal Church commemorates Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frederick Handel, and Henry Purcell. The Lutheran calendar commemorates Bach, Handel, and Heinrich Schütz. Bach and Handel appear on both calendars; Purcell and Schütz complete our quartet. Episcopal calendar · Lutheran commemoration

Officially, these are called commemorations, though such observances are often described as feast days.

So today, we shall take the word feast quite seriously—and feast on some of their magnificent music.
